Teams: Men's & Women's Basketball & STUNT
Kirsten Jenkins joined the Vanguard staff as Assistant Athletic Trainer in October 2021.
“We are pleased to welcome Kirsten Jenkins to the Lion family,” said Bussell. “She will be a tremendous asset to the athletics training staff in their effort to keep all of our student-athletes healthy and competing at the highest levels.”
Jenkins came to Vanguard from the University of San Diego, where she served as an Athletic Training Student for the football, men’s tennis and track and field teams. In addition to completing injury evaluations and creating rehabilitation plans, Jenkins mentored first year students in the Athletic Training Room.
In 2018-19, she spent time as an Athletic Training Student at San Diego State University. She oversaw the sports of women’s swimming, women’s water polo and women’s lacrosse, with focus on rehabilitation of athletes and prevention of chronic injuries.
Jenkins earned her Bachelor of Science degree in May 2020 from San Diego State. In August 2021, she received her Master’s in Athletic Training from Indiana Wesleyan.
Jenkins works alongside Head Athletic Trainer Darin Voigt, Associate Head Athletic Trainer Kelly Vega and Assistant Athletic Trainer Rey Flores in helping keep Vanguard student-athletes injury free.
“We are blessed to have Kirsten as part of our AT staff,” said Voigt. “She has a strong intention to work hard and show her expertise in the field.”
