Darin Voigt serves Vanguard University and the Department of Athletics in the capacity of Head Athletic Trainer. Voigt started in 2005 and has built the Sports Medicine program into a thriving initiative of preparing athletes for intercollegiate sports participation. Prior to coming to VU, Voigt received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Athletic Training from California State Polytechnic Pomona, where he graduated in 1994. After that, he obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
While his role has not changed; his responsibilities have, going from less than 200 student-athletes to over 400 student-athletes and 22 sports. In addition to his responsibilities with the Athletics Department, Voigt has also taught classes as an adjunct professor in the Department of Kinesiology. In 1999, Voigt was honored with the Orange County’s Distinguished Athletic Trainer award. He was also recognized for his great work by the Golden State Athletic Conference, winning the Trainer of the Year award in 2019 and 2022.
Voigt resides with his wife Sarah, daughter, Kylie, and son Porter, in Tustin.
