LA MIRADA, Calif. - Saturday, the Vanguard Lions competed in their second dual meet this week going head-to-head with GSAC member Biola University, just two days after a friendly competition with nearby Concordia University. Saturday's show-down with Biola was a result of the Pomona Pitzer All-Comers meet being cancelled due to rain. As it turned out, rainy weather was not a factor Saturday and the Biola venue was in good shape.
IRVINE, Calif. - A spur of the moment meet was scheduled between Vanguard University and Concordia University as a last ditch effort to qualify some athletes for the upcoming NAIA Indoor Nationals event to be hosted in Tennessee the first week of March. By meet end, the Lions Track & Field teams qualified four more athletes for Nationals and had another four mark personal bests.
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The Vanguard Track and Field team spent Saturday competing at the Soka Indoor Qualifier hosted by Soka University of America. BY the end of the meet, multiple personal bests and school records were notched including four first place finishes by the Lions. One more week of events is all that stands between the Blue and Gold from earning more opportunities to compete at the NAIA Indoor Nationals from March 2-4.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - For the second straight weekend the Lions competed on the track at Westmont College, this time for the Sunshine Indoor Multi Qualifier. By the end of the two day event, Winston Lawson (SO/Santa Ana, CA) came home with the overall Heptathlon event victoryand multiple other members of Vanguard Track and Field recorded personal bests and some top marks in the GSAC this season.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The vanguard track and field teams got the 2017 season underway, competiting at the On Your Mark Meet hosted by Westmont College on Saturday, January 28th. The event was under NAIA Indoor Meet standards and the Blue and Gold found much success for their first outing of the season.
COSTA MESA, Calif. - Vanguard University Cross Country and Track & Field has added its first addition for the 2017-2018 year as Savannah Yi signed her letter of intent last Friday. The Glendora High School senior owns personal bests of 17:59 in the three mile and 18:52 in the 5000m distance for cross country season. On the track side, she competes in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m events with respective times of 2:28, 5:17, and 11:33 as her personal bests.
