COSTA MESA, Calif.- The Vanguard University Lions (7-20, 5-10) had a lot to think about, making the long journey home after a fourth consecutive loss at the hands of Arizona Christian. Waiting for the Lions, were the 16th ranked Westmont College Warriors (22-6, 10-5), who handed the Lions their first loss in their four game losing streak. Stopping the skid looked like a truly daunting task on paper, but the Pride upset the odds by comfortably defeating the Warriors 87-72. Teslim Idris (SR/London, England) led the way for the Lions, scoring 19 points on the night.

We are in the last week of our regular season and this year has been full of ups and downs. Although I have had my share of frustrating moments and doubts, recently I have really started to embrace a sense of gratitude that I have never felt before. No matter what the outcome may have been in my past, I am thankful for each experience I have encountered not only in these last couple years at Vanguard, but in my life. This is one of the hardest lesson I have learned and it is also one of the most gratifying. It is a great feeling to have when you can detach yourself from the results of everything and solely focus on gratitude.

COSTA MESA, Calif. - Back home following their defeat at the hands of Westmont, the Vanguard University Lions (6-20, 4-8) looked to turn their fortunes around against the Hope International University Royals (21-5, 10-2). Desperate to return to winning ways, the Pride fought tooth and claw, only to lose 91-86 in overtime. Malachi Hoosein (JR/Norwalk, CA) just missed a half court shot as time expired in regulation, as the ball just fell short of being nothing but net.
