COSTA MESA, Calif. – Vanguard was chosen as the 2013 recipient of the coveted Buffalo Funds-NAIA Men's Soccer Champions of Character Team Award. The Buffalo Funds Five Star award was created to recognize one team in every sport, regardless of whether they qualify for nationals, based upon their documented display of exemplary character and sportsmanship during practice, competition, on campus, and in the community.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – A pair of Vanguard freshman, Juan Arellano (Hawthorne, Calif.) and Nahum Paz (Costa Mesa, Calif.) were named to the All-Golden State Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Team for their impressive contributions on the field in 2013.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Fourth-seeded Westmont College knocked fifth-seeded Vanguard out of the Golden State Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament on Wednesday at Thorrington Field. The Warriors (11-6, 6-4 GSAC) scored four in the first round match-up, while holding the Lions (8-8-1, 4-5-1 GSAC) to two to end VU's 2013 campaign.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Freshman Nahum Paz (Costa Mesa, Calif.) put Vanguard out-front 1-0 in the first half of Saturday's Golden State Athletic Conference game between the Lions and Westmont College, but the Warriors overcame the deficit with three goals in the second to claim a 3-1 victory.

Men's Soccer - Sat, Nov. 2, 2013

GSAC Champion Concordia will be the No. 1-seed in the upcoming GSAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.  Concordia, which is ranked No. 16 in the NAIA, finished the regular season 12-4 overall and 9-1 in GSAC play.  Concordia suffered its only loss to Biola, which will be the No. 2-seed.  Biola completed the regular season with the best overall record in the conference at 13-3-1.
