Men's Cross Country - Sat, Nov. 19, 2016

Elsah, Ill. - The Vanguard trio of Zach DeAtley (SR/Victorville, CA), Zach Hunt (SR/Sparks, NV) and Jeronimo Brito (JR/Riverside, CA) put it all on the line today in cold and windy conditions on the North Farm Course located near the campus of Principia College. The weather was chilly (40 degrees at race time) with 20mph winds and the course was 100% grass with challenging hills throughout. The senior duo of DeAtley and Hunt concluded their collegiate cross country careers with their best collegiate efforts finishing 48th & 50th overall among 331 finishers with impressive 8k times of 25:35 and 25:36 respectively.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Vanguard Lions will be racing in tomorrow's 61st Annual NAIA National Championship. For the first time North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, Illinois will be the host site. Jeronimo Brito (JR/Riverside, CA), Zach DeAtley (SR/Victorville, CA), and Zach Hunt (SR/Sparks, NV) qualified to race for the individual title by their finish in the GSAC Championships on November 5th

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The VU Men finished fourth among nine teams at the GSAC Cross Country Championships hosted by William Jessup University  while the VU Women put together their best race of the season finishing sixth overall in a talented GSAC field. Jeronimo Brito (JR/Riverside, CA), Zach Hunt (SR/Sparks, NV), and Zach DeAtley (SR/Victorville, CA) run Top 15 times in the field of male runners earning All-GSAC and putting themselves in great position to reach the NAIA Cross Country National Championships.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Golden State Athletic Conference has announced the list of student-athletes who have qualified as GSAC Scholar Athletes for Fall 2016. Three members including two members of the women's team represented the cross-country program of Vanguard University. Zachary DeAtley, Sarah Finch (SR/Redondo Beach, CA), and Lauren Soholt (SR/Riverside, CA) are all repeat winners from last season.

COSTA MESA, Calif.Zach Hunt (SR/Sparks, NV) has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference Runner of the Month for October. The senior showed great improvement as he competed in two races for Vanguard in the final full month of season.  Hunt placed fifth with a time of 25:59 at the 26th Vanguard Invitational 8K race held at Irvine Regional Park on October 8. Less than two weeks later, Hunt finished as the top runner for the Lions and the GSAC and sixth overall in a field of more than 140 runners at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational.  His time of 25:01 was a personal record for Hunt and nearly a minute faster than the race earlier in the month.

Cross Country - Sat, Oct. 22, 2016

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Vanguard men's and women's cross country squads switched up the schedule and traded in their usual early Saturday morning race for an afternoon meet hosted by Cal State Fullerton. The Titan Invitational hosted both NCAA Division I and NAIA schools. In their respective fields, the Lion men side finished fifth out of 10 teams and the women sporting the Blue and Gold finished sixth amongst eight teams.
