COSTA MESA, Calif. - The 2015 Men's and Women's Track and Field season has come to an end at Vanguard and we are pleased to announce our athletes of the year for the two teams. This season, there was a tie on the women's side in part because of the seven new school records that were achieved this spring.
GULF SHORES, Ala. - The 2015 Vanguard Men's and Women's Track season came to an end Saturday on the final day of competition at the NAIA National Championships. Three members of the squad raced today including Zach Hunt (SO/Sparks, NV), Josh Espinoza (SR/Glendale, AZ), and Marline Estell (SR/San Marcos, CA).
GULF SHORES, Ala. - Marline Estell (SR/San Marcos, CA) broke her own Vanguard school record in the 3,000m Steeplechase running 11:05.01 to finish 4th in her semi-final heat and advance to Saturday's finals. Estell had the 9th fastest time of the 14 athletes who advanced to the final. Saturday's top-8 finishers will earn NAIA All-American honors.
EAGLE ROCK, Calif. - In the final regular season track meet for the Lions, Josh Espinoza (SR/Glendale, AZ) broke his own school record continuing his illustrious career wearing the Blue and Gold. This marks the seventh school record to fall this year. Vanguard will send six runners to NAIA Outdoor Nationals later this month.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Over the weekend, the GSAC Track and Field Championships were hosted by Westmont College where the Lions claim seven GSAC titles, set three new school records, and have 16 competitors finish in the top three. Vanguard will send six athletes to NAIA Outdoor Nationals to run in eight events.
AZUSA, Calif. - This weekend, the men's and women's track teams competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University. During the all day event, many new personal bests and season bests were recorded. On Saturday, the women's 4x100 racd at the Beach Invitation hosted by Cerritos College.
