COSTA MESA, Calif. – Five Vanguard softball players were recognized as being the best-of-the-best in the Golden State Athletic Conference ranks on Monday, as center fielder Taylor Hallahan (JR/Santee, CA), first baseman Brittney Boggs (JR/Lakewood, CA), pitcher Rachel Stalford (JR/San Diego, CA), catcher Breanne Gomez (JR/Santa Ana, CA) and third baseman Shelby Kuryllo (JR/Corona, CA) were voted to the 2014 All-GSAC team.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Vanguard's dynamic pitcher-catcher combo of Rachel Stalford (JR/San Diego, CA) and Breanne Gomez (JR/Santa Ana, CA) swept the Golden State Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week awards on April 21 for their performances against Arizona Christian and Azusa Pacific.

IRVINE, Calif. - The Golden State Athletic Conference Softball Tournament is back.  All six  teams will compete in the tournament April 24-26 to be hosted by GSAC Champion Concordia University in Irvine, Calif.  For the first time since 2011, the conference will stage a postseason tournament.  The addition of a first-year softball program at San Diego Christian gives the GSAC the NAIA-required 6 member schools with the sport, allowing the return of the tournament.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Vanguard capped Brittany Colenzo (SR/Downey, CA)'s senior day and the regular season in exciting fashion, as it swept former Golden State Athletic Conference foe Azusa Pacific 8-0 (5 innings) and 3-2, respectively, in Wednesday's non-conference softball doubleheader.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Vanguard (30-20, 10-10 GSAC) completed its 2014 Golden State Athletic Conference season with a split, as it run-ruled Arizona Christian (9-29, 2-18 GSAC)10-2 (5 innings) in the opener but fell 4-1 to the Firestorm in the nightcap.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Vanguard played an unusual away doubleheader against Hope International on the VU Softball Field Saturday afternoon, but despite the quirks that playing away at home presented, the advantage appeared to go to the Lions, who swept the affair by finals of 2-1 and 2-1.
