Costa Mesa, Calif. – Vanguard University (7-4, 2-1 GSAC) exploded offensively picking up a 111-71 non-conference victory over Trinity Western University from British Columbia, in the highest point total for the Lions since Rhett Soliday took over as head coach prior to the 2010-11 campaign.

Keith Mason (SR/Carson, CA) starred for the Lions scoring a team high 18 points in the blowout. Vanguard defeated the Spartans for the second straight year and remains undefeated since Myles Smith (JR/San Pedro, CA) joined the starting lineup.

Men's Basketball - Sun, Dec. 14, 2014

Santa Clarita, Calif.  - The Lions took their hot shooting on the road against the Masters (2-6, 0-3 in the GSAC) and notched their second straight GSAC victory 76-65 taking their record to 6-4 overall, 2-1 in the conference.  The new-look lineup paid dividends again as Chris Gorman (SR/Oceanside, CA) sizzled the nets for 31 points on 8-15 shooting including 5-10 on three's.

Santa Clara, Calif.  - Coming in riding a five game winning streak, the #3 ranked Lions (5-1, 2-1)  stumbled in their third GAC game losing to #20 The Master's College (8-3, 2-1) by a score of 71-64. Riley Holsinger (JR/Spokane, WA) netted 26 points in the loss, and Samantha Doucette (JR/Irvine, CA) contributed 20 points.

Costa Mesa, Calif.  - Vanguard (5-4, 1-1 in GSAC) snapped a four-game losing streak and demolished William Jessup (9-3, 1-2 in the GSAC) 97-55 on Thursday night in The Pit.  A total team-effort was lead by senior guard Chris Gorman (SR/Oceanside, CA).  The Lions jumped on the Warriors 14-3 in the opening seven minutes and never looked back.

Costa Mesa, Calif. - Vanguard (5-0, 2-0) grabs another early season conference win defeated William Jessup 89-47. Doucette, Holsinger, and Kennedy combine for 71 points in the blowout win including 46 in the second half.

Northridge, Calif.  - Cal State University Northridge (2-7) defeated Vanguard (4-4) in an exhibition tilt. DeAngelo Jones (SR/Cheney, WA) scored 20 points and led the Lions offensively once again. Struggling in the early portion of the game, the Matadores were spotted a lead that they would not relinquish.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - With its season on the line, No. 21 Vanguard put forth a valiant effort, out-performing No. 6 Missouri Baptist in nearly every statistical category (kills, blocks, hitting percentage, assists and digs) to force five sets, but in the end, two points and a 5-to-2 MBU edge in service aces prevented the Lions from advancing to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Quarterfinal round of eight.

Oceanside, Calif.- The #3 Lions continue their strong start to the 2014-15 campaign with a 65-41 victory over Cal State San Marcos. Riley Holsinger scored 24 points and 12 rebounds. Samantha Doucette (JR/Irvine, CA) chipped in 16 points.

Volleyball - Thu, Dec. 4, 2014

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - With its season on the line Thursday, Vanguard showed up to play, upsetting its second challenger in as many matches to push forward into the single elimination round of the NAIA Volleyball National Championships. The No. 21 Lions, 25-12 on the year following a 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19) upset of No. 17 Southern Oregon University, now sit as one of the twelve remaining teams vying for the 2014 title.
