COSTA MESA, Calif. –  No. 12 Vanguard women's soccer earned its second-straight victory on Saturday afternoon at the VU Soccer Field. The Lions, who sit at 2-0 overall, defeated Soka University of America 3-0 by way of goals from Janell Koide (SR/Fremont, CA), Madison Cody (JR/Irvine, CA) and Jennifer Martin (SR/La Mirada, CA).

LA MIRADA, Calif. – No. 22 Vanguard dropped a pair of matches Friday on the final day of the Biola Summer Slam Tournament. With its two 3-0 losses to No. 7 Midland and Southern Oregon (RV), the Lions move to 2-3 on the season.

Volleyball - Thu, Aug. 21, 2014

LA MIRADA, Calif. – Vanguard upset No. 13 Dordt on Thursday evening 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 26-24) at Biola's Summer Slam Tournament.  Libero Kelly Heenan (SR/Costa Mesa, CA) more than doubled everyone on the floor in the dig category, coming up with 21 in the four-set competition.

Men's Soccer - Thu, Aug. 21, 2014

COSTA MESA, Calif. –Vanguard men's soccer rattled off a pair of first half goals in Thursday's contest at the VU Soccer Field to take down La Sierra 2-0 in its season opener. Juan Arellano (SO/Hawthorne, CA) and Jesus Fregoso (JR/La Puente, CA) scored for the Lions, while newcomer Brandon Gomez (FR/Los Angeles, CA) held the Golden Eagles scoreless in his debut at goalkeeper.

LA MIRADA, Calif. – No. 22 Vanguard (1-1) was very efficient against Bellevue (Neb.) (RV) on Thursday morning, hitting a combined .322 as it picked up its first victory of the 2014 volleyball season.

Women's Soccer - Tue, Aug. 19, 2014

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Vanguard women's soccer begins its season where it finished in 2013, as the No. 12 team in the country, according to the 2014 NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Lions went 15-5-1 in 2013, and open the year on Wednesday August 20th (4:00pm) against Antelope Valley at home.
