IRVINE, Calif. - The 2014-15 All-GSAC Men's Basketball Team presented by Under Armour consists of 10 players and includes Chris Gorman (SR/Oceanside, CA) as the lone representative for the defending NAIA National Champions.

IRVINE, Calif. - Riley Holsinger (JR/Spokane, WA) is named GSAC Player of the Year for 2014-2015 and Head Coach Russ Davis is named Co-Coach of the Year. This is the ninth time Davis has received the award and the second straight award for Coach Davis. Holsinger makes it two straight years in which a Vanguard women's basketball player has won the GSAC Player of the Year award.

POMONA, Calif. - Vanguard's men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Carl Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont McKenna College on Saturday, February 28th. Joi Goynes (SR/Las Vegas, NV) placed third overall in the women's 100 meters and five more personal bests were set, marking the three straight weekends with personal records falling.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Lions (15-9, 11-7) were unable to take a game in the important GSAC series with the visiting Concordia University Eagles (21-3, 16-2), dropping both games by the score of 3-2 in today's doubleheader. Errors ended up being the difference in both games, as the Lions totaled five of them on the day, accounting for four of the six runs given up.

SANTEE, Calif. --- Vanguard finished up its weekend trip to San Diego with a split of a GSAC doubleheader against San Diego Christian College, falling 10-4 in the opener and winning 4-2 in the nightcap on a rainy Saturday at the Santee Sportsplex. The Lions finish the day at 15-3 on the season and are 3-1 in conference play while the Hawks move to 13-5 overall and to 1-1 in the GSAC.

IRVINE, Calif. – The 9th ranked Lions (20-6, 12-4) upset No. 6 Concordia in the final game of the regular season. Vanguard needed 20 points each from Amber Alexander (JR/Grand Blanc, MI) and Samantha Doucette (JR/Irvine, CA) to achieve the 86-66 victory.

IRVINE, Calif. – Vanguard (16-14, 8-8) narrowly missed out on a big upset of Concordia, losing 69-65 in the GSAC regular season finale. Chris Gorman (SR/Oceanside, CA) led the Lions with 18 points and five rebounds. DeAngelo Jones (SR/Cheney, WA) tacked on 15 points, four steals, and three rebounds. Concordia leaves with a 24-6 (13-3) record.

Softball - Fri, Feb. 27, 2015

SAN MARCOS, Calif. --- Vanguard used a big five-run fourth highlighted by a three-run home run by Brittney Boggs (SR/Lakewood, CA) to down No. 12 Cal State San Marcos 7-3, snapping the Cougars' 14-game win streak and earning a non-conference doubleheader split on Friday afternoon. The Lions improve to 14-2 on the season and pick up their third win in four games against nationally-ranked teams this week. The Cougars move to 17-4.
