COSTA MESA, Calif. - For the second consecutive week, Brandon Gomez (SR/Los Angeles, CA) has been voted Defensive Player of the Week for the Golden State Athletic Conference. This is the ninth time he has earned it in his four year career. The goalkeeper earned a pair of victories last week on the road at rivals Westmont College and The Master's University. The reigning GSAC Defender of the Week topped last week's pair of shutouts with two big time wins. During the matchup with #24 TMU, he blocked two penalty kicks to preserve the Lions' win. With the game tied at 2-2, Gomez came up to take a penalty kick of his own which he calmly sank and received credit for the game winner. In the road victory at Westmont, he blocked a third penalty kick in the 84th minute to hold onto the 1-0 victory. Vanguard has now gone 6-0 in conference play for the first time in program history.
