COSTA MESA, Calif. - Vanguard University is proud to announce the hire of Kristen Struett as the next Senior Administrative Assistant for the athletics department. As a former NCAA Division I softball player at the University of South Carolina, she has steadily progressed in her role within professional and collegiate sports since graduation.
"I am thrilled to be able to add a person of Kristen's character and dynamic leadership abilities to our staff at Vanguard. She brings a wealth of experience as a former student-athlete that will only add to our ability to serve our students well here," Director of Athletics Rhett Soliday stated. "Kristen is known as a great teammate with a servant's heart, and her role as a Christ-centered leader in our department is vital in moving us forward. I am so thankful God brought us the right person at the right time."
Finishing an internship with UCLA Academic and Student Services, she was tasked with creating communication plans for class attendance against competition dates, data collection for staff and coaches and worked directly with the football student-athletes providing academic support and developing self-sufficient learning. This summer, she also filled a role as a Camps and Clinics Assistant with UCLA for over 100 athletic camps on the Westwood campus.
"I am incredibly excited to continue my career at Vanguard Athletics as the new Administrative Assistant," a beaming Struett stated. "It truly was a blessing to be accepted in to the great community of Vanguard University, Athletics Staff, and student-athletes, and I can't wait to support everyone around me as much as I can."
Prior to the stint with the Bruins, she was a program coordinator for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim serving in their RBI Programs (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities). During her playing days at South Carolina, she was an intern under the Senior Associate Athletic Director of External Affairs and working alongside new media with the SEC Network.
The newest member of the Blue and Gold went on to say, "The mission that Vanguard stands for is unlike any other, valuing the faith, knowledge, and character of each person. The mission and the people are the main reasons I am so happy to be a part of this University and I can't wait to be a part of the future of Vanguard Athletics. Go Lions!"
Struett, a native of Westminster and a Marina High School graduate in Huntington Beach, is currently pursuing a Master's in Sport and Athletic Administration at Gonzaga University.
