Hi! My name is Joslyn Beliera (FR/Modesto, CA) and I am from the Northern California area. It is about a six hour drive away. Some of my favorite things to do is go to the beach, travel, and further my relationship with God anyway possible. Being a freshmen here at Vanguard is overwhelming, but in a good way. Being a student-athlete here is a big part of that trying to balance school and athletics, but I am glad you are here for the ride.
I had an exciting summer because I got to go to Tunisia to teach softball to a local organization for a week, and then went to Rome for two days. I got to experience this amazing adventure with my two softball coaches, Lindsey (junior at Vanguard University), and Loren who was our leader in this whole process. We had softball clinics twice a day for 5 days, went sight seeing, went to a festival, private tour around the city, swimming in the Mediterranean, and so much more. We were welcomed with open arms, and everyone was so generous and patient with us when it came to not knowing the language and culture. Being able to travel for the first time and able to open up parts of the world to the sport I love was a feeling I will never forget. This whole experience opened up my eyes in the aspect of my future. I am majoring in Religion, and I am considering going into mission work later on with focus on youth ministry. I would love to make a difference one day for even just one person and sharing God's word is exactly how I want to go about it.
Softball has kicked into gear with conditioning and weights these past two weeks, and our first practice together will be September 11. Meshing with the team was not as intimidating and nerve racking as I thought since all the girls are so nice. I am so excited for the upcoming season.
