Costa Mesa, California - Costa Mesa Tennis Center - No. 9 Vanguard University hosted the No. 2-ranked Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds in GSAC women's tennis this afternoon. The visitors lived up to their ranking with a 7-2 victory over the Lions, remaining undefeated so far this season at 3-0.

The Sunbirds won two of three doubles matchups with Petronella Lindahl and Ashley Tebeau earning VU's point with an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 doubles position.

With the Lions trailing 2-1 heading into singles play, the Sunbirds soon clinched the match by winning the first five matches completed. VU's senior Gabriela Bergmanova outlasted FPU's top player 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 for a come-from-behind win to score the second and final point for the Lions.

"Fresno is a really good team," commented VU's head coach Mattias Johansson. "It was nice to see that Gabriela is still undefeated this year at the No. 1. Eka (Gabashvili), Gabriele (Alford), and Petronella (Lindahl) all played one solid set and pushed their opponents a little which was good to see, and it was a very good win a the No. 3 doubles."
