Costa Mesa, Calif. - Vanguard University women's tennis senior Gabriela Bergmanova completed her collegiate athletic career at the 2012 NAIA National Women's Tennis Championships last week in Mobile, Alabama. VU's most successful women's tennis player for the past three years, Bergmanova swept through local Golden State Athletic Conference honors and national awards with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics both on and off the court.

On the court, Bergmanova finished an outstanding season 23-1 as VU's No. 1 singles player and 16-9 in doubles action. At the conclusion of the 2012 spring season, she was named to the All-GSAC Team and the NAIA First Team All-America. Ranked among the top NAIA women in the ITA individual rankings all season, Bergmanova was the No. 2 ranked player in the May rankings and was named the NAIA Wilson/ITA West Senior Women's Player of the Year.

As a student, Bergmanova was also a leader among her peers. Accumulating a 3.78 in the classroom during her three years at Vanguard, VU's All-American also earned GSAC and NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete honors this season.

Bergmanova helped lead the No. 15-ranked Lions to the 2012 NAIA Championships where Vanguard advanced to the second round before ending the season at the hands of eventual NAIA Champion Auburn Montgomery.
